Ode to Mathematics

Mathematics! Mathematics!
I scratch my head not for the ticks!
The problems you pose, itch me more
So hard to learn -- harder to score.

Companies that promise great careers
All say in bold, 'No Standing Arrears!'
But my arrears aren't 'seated',
Until you're properly treated.

You seem to me variably hazy,
Only because I'm constantly lazy!
But for the diligent practicer,
Who is laborious, not wiser,
You form a seductive mistress
And give him bliss and not distress!

PS: Written entirely in trance filled maths classes during my college days.
